It worked most of the time – it came with an unmodified GLOCK 19 magazine and the rounds didn’t always feed properly.

The pistol being discussed today is the GLOCK 19 Gen 4 9mm pistol, and it is arguably the best generation to date. It comes with 4 back straps, two to make the handle fatter or heavier and two to add some traction. Some glove wearers have experienced hanging up when the slide touches their gloved hand, so with the extended straps you won't have that problem. (I've never had a problem wearing gloves and shooting a GLOCK.)

The GLOCK 19, Gen 4 weighs 23.65 ounces, has a 4.02 inch barrel with about 5.5 pounds of recoil. Each magazine (you get three) holds 15 rounds of 9mm. The barrel is hexagonal, so there is no gun in it.

This product is what GLOCK calls a safety trigger - it has a little knob in the middle of the trigger, and you can't fire the trigger until your finger is on the trigger. There are also some internal security measures, but you don't need to do anything. The good spots have white dot polymer in the front and polymer in the back, except it's a "U" shape and takes very quickly. These scopes are not suitable for frequent shooting, but most people who buy a GLOCK do so for self-defense or work, not for shooting. Sights are easily changed if you want to mount a different sight on the rifle. But you need a GLOCK front tool to replace the front sight.

I've been told that the GLOCK 19 is the most popular model in the GLOCK line, and I see no argument here. The GLOCK 19 is smaller than a full-size 17 and larger than a subcompact 26 — “perfect,” as Goldilocks would say. Honestly, the 19 is my favorite GLOCK model. My oldest daughter and wife also carry a GLOCK 19; holders of concealed weapons permits. The polymer frame has finger grooves on the front strap, and the side and rear straps have small “bumps” for a secure grip on the gun in all conditions.

The return spring of the 19 Gen 4 is slightly more stable than in previous generations. Also, you can safely shoot +P and +P+ 9mm in 19 with no problem. The slide has a Tennifer anti-corrosion coating; I'm told it's actually harder to wear than a diamond. And, even if the black fades, the wear is still there and the slide won't rust. And, as was said, the frame is polymer.

All GLOCKs are easy to disassemble for cleaning and maintenance. You simply pull out the magazine, check the chamber to make sure there is no round barrel, point the gun in a safe direction, and pull the gun. Once you do this, you will pull the slide about 1/4 inch while lowering the stripping blade and the slide will drop. You can then remove the recoil spring assembly without the barrel and that's it. Put the barrel back into the slide, then assemble the spring and put it back on the frame - it's that easy!

All GLOCKs come with a magazine mechanism and their magazines are a bit heavy to load. I don't have a problem, but many do. Use the mag machine to load your mags and let them sit for a week or two and then the next time you go to load the mags they will be easier to load because the spring has hardened.

GLOCK pistols do not need a lot of oil. However, I keep my model 19 lubricated at all times with Italian Gun Grease http://www.italiangungrease.com/ and it is the best gun grease I have ever used. I also like the Blackhawk Products http://www.blackhawk.com/ SERPA hip holster for concealed carry and their tactical holster makes a great holster too low and not in the way.

The Inforce APLc Weapon Light is no thicker than a Glock 19 slide and does not extend the barrel of the pistol. At less than two ounces, it adds 200 lumens of pure white light with almost no downside. When carried in the IWB appendage position (inside the waist), the minimum mass is not visible. If you carry a waist belt, then you really have no excuse not to mount a light on your gun.

The main (and really, only) reason you carry a rifle light is to identify a target under deadly force conditions. While some people are lumen hogs, 200 lumens is plenty of power for a pistol light. Many shooters will have trouble getting the target far enough to reach the APLc limit.

In the dark foggy night with guns I want ALL LIGHTS. In a normal urban environment, APLc's 200 lumens is acceptable when you consider the small package that contains it.

The original APL had some issues with its quick release system. It was solved in the next generation. With APLc, Inforce takes a minimalist approach. The mounting system uses a classic cross-bolt design. The screw goes through the body of the APLc and through the slot in the G19's dust cover. On the other side, it threads into the metal nut that is in the lamp body. Furthermore, care must be taken when tightening the cross screws to avoid cracking the cable or lamp body. This is a simple and effective mounting design.

The controls in Inforce APLc set it apart from the competition. The APLc is ambidextrous and allows easy access to temporary or constant lighting. In normal, two-handed shooting, it is easy to press the paddle switch with the thumb of the side support hand. A quick tap and release will turn the lights on continuously. Another tap and release will disable it. Holding the paddle for more than half a second will put it into boot mode for a moment. Releasing the city will stop it. If the light is on, in constant light mode, then press the paddle for more than 1/2 second and release it will turn off. This is more complicated to type than to operate.

Where APLc really leaves the competition behind is when you can use one hand to operate the gun. In this situation, it is important to be able to light the light with your hand on the trigger grip and then quickly index the trigger. APLc paddles are within reach of most index fingers. A quick tap when the gun is raised will activate the light in constant mode. The index finger is then free to operate the trigger. When it's time to move, another quick tap on the paddle and the lights go out. This is a very simple operation that can be done when you are picking up the kids and your mind is racing in the middle of the night.

In a custom-made device, form must take a backseat to function. The layout should be the last layout. In this case, Inforce has greatly improved the appearance of the original APL. The full size APL we currently use on the SIG 1911 is a matte gray finish. It doesn't look bad against the flat gray/black finish of the handgun, it looks a little out of place against the black inside of the Glock polymer frame. It only makes sense for Inforce to use a matte black polymer for the Glock specific APLc. The color and texture compliment the Glock frame. The shape of the APLc flows with the Glock line and makes it look like a well thought out system rather than a tacked on accessory. Inforce even went so far as to mark the APLc paddles to better suit the custom frame jobs that are all the rage on Instagram.

Overall, Inforce has done an amazing job of creating a light that compliments the Glock 19 without detracting from the compact form factor that makes such a great concealed carry pistol. What's even more amazing is that Inforce is offering this USA-made light for $150 MSRP.

Although this light is designed for Glock 19, it will fit any Glock pistol with a Glock-specific rail (it is strange that G21 picatinny should not apply).
